Adults can be defined as animals or human beings who have completed their developmental stage. When used with humans, the term "adult" could mean anything that is connected to social or legal notions. In contrast to a person who is who is not considered to be an adult or "minor" an legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority making them self-sufficient, capable, and responsible. The term "major" is a term used to define these individuals. Age 18 is an adult legal age but the definition of adulthood can vary by country, legal rights or mental development.

Adulthood refers to the time in the lifespan of a human being during which full physical and intellectual maturity has occurred. Many people believe that the age of adulthood starts at 20 years or more. Middle age, commencing approximately 40 years of age then follows by the age of 60 years. There are three primary stages of adulthood the early years of adults (18 to mid-30s) mid-adulthood (mid-30s until mid-60s) as well as late adulthood (mid-60s to end of life). It is the time of physical maturity that you reach when you turn 20 to 40 years old. Our height and weight, however, may slightly rise. When we are young the physical capabilities of our bodies are at their highest such as muscle strength, reaction time as well as sensory capabilities, the functioning of our heart.
